Is that so?

[His stomach was doing a steady barrage of flip flopping at the mention of running away together. Even if they stayed here forever, he wouldn't mind. It was a nice vacation from their lives back home. He knows that his choice to become Supreme Leader had been a hasty one, but he'd wanted the power to stabilize the galaxy. He hadn't expected to be doing it alone.]

You know, I'm not exactly a nice man to be running away with.

[He smiles a bit, feeling exhilarated by the direction their conversation was taking. Where this boldness came from, he didn't know, but he was running with it. They might not get very far until their shards caused them pain, as Iorveth had told him, but the idea of being far away from all of this with just her was a nice one.]

I just might keep you all to myself.

[ She knows rationally that they wouldn't be able to disappear long term. The rifters were all connected, in a sense. But the thought of running away with him and starting anew... It's one she's harbored many times. Wrinkling her nose she tilts get head to the side, just slightly. ]

I don't need a nice man.

[ She murmurs before lifting her chin enough to press her lips to his. ]

[He grabs the back of her shirt, wrinkling the fabric in his hold as he does, and kisses her back with barely contained intensity. His gravity centered onto her, as if the universe held only one star or planet in the entire galaxy and he was fortunate enough to just be caught in her orbit.

He was lucky. She could have killed him - several times, in fact - or left him to freeze to death in that cave in the Sunless Lands. She could have kept their bond locked up tight and pretended he didn't exist. Instead, she was here and they were relying on each other.

His touch moves greedily up her spine, messing up and smoothing her shirt out again as he goes. His thoughts latch onto, for what must be the hundredth time since they started whatever this was between them, how much he wanted her. They were about as subtle as a house on fire and the way he pressed her against him and opened their mouths to deepen their kiss was just as unsubtle.]

[ She sighs into his mouth, the tension of a few moments ago starting to bleed out of her in response to his touch. Her body arches into his and her hand on his face slides back to his hair, tangling in it and holding him close. At least this is something she can be sure of. Regardless of what's going on in the Gallows, she has Ben and his feelings for her are plain. ]

[His hand tangles in her hair in response, tugging lightly wile his mouth slanted against hers; his lips, teeth and tongue saying what words failed to evoke. His eyes fell shut against the overflow of sensations and all seemed to still and feel right between them.

He could tune out all the rest: the uncertainty of their place in Thedas; the worries that the Inquisition, or the Chantry, or whoever, only planned to keep them all here; whether he would even have this when and if they went back. Let all of Thedas fight themselves for all he cared.

His hands drop to her waist before he wraps his arms around her, dragging her upwards against him while he reached out for somewhere - her desk seemed to work well enough. The objects laid on it seemed to jump away from the surface of it when he brought her closer to set her down again. He leaned in, bracing himself with a hand laid on either side of her.]

[ They've gotten pretty good at this, from the first unsure kiss to now. Rey knows exactly how to move her lips against his, how to avoid leaning too far into it and hitting his teeth with hers. She's able to lose herself in the moment, drowning herself in the sensation of his body pressed to hers, her senses filled with him.

She does let out a small gasp as he pulls her upwards, her legs going around his waist to steady herself. Then her rear meets desk and she pulls away from him enough to look around her to make sure that nothing important will get disrupted only to see he's already knocked everything on the floor. Letting out a quiet laugh she shakes her head. ]

What if I'd been working on something important, here?

[ She hums as she leans back into him again, her hands smoothing up his arms and over his shoulders. ]

Ah. Well, it was in the way.

[Which is to say he will help her fix it if something broke, but that could wait. Her laughter was like music to his ears and he never got tired of hearing it. His mouth drops to hers again, comfortable with the familiarity they've both found, while his hands get comfortable on her outer thighs.]

I'll put everything back after.

Don't worry about it. It was just junk.

[ Her hands trail up to his neck, then face, the smile not leaving her lips even as his mouth covers hers. She let her legs relax, hanging to either side of his hips rather than wrapped around them. ]

[ Poe needed a question answered and he didn't think the crystal would be appropriate for it. He was a more in person kind of guy to begin with. By the way of how this one thing sounds, it seemed important. He didn't think about privacy in the moment of when he got to Rey's door. He enters first with a quick knock of a warning. ]

Hey, I was wonder-- [ His sentence is cut short be surprise. Poe takes a moment to really look at what was going on. First she was with someone. He didn't think she would be. That was his first mistake and second mistake wasn't waiting for the "come in". He doesn't stare long as he immediately covers his eyes with his hand while keeping his mouth free. ]

Uh, [ He's stumbling with the words while his brain comes back. She was with Kylo Ren and that was a lot to take in a well. ] I can come back later. [ Poe knows he's currently in the wrong too. It's probably not his first time walking in on two people. He slowly backs towards the door while keeping his hand over his eyes to give them privacy. Another confused thing to think about in regards to Rey being with Kylo Ren. ]

[At the sound of Poe's voice, his Force signature registering in his mind, Kylo straightens immediately. His hands drop from Rey like he'd been burned. It was like approaching a wild animal, the sudden ripple of anger that took over his posture and voice.]

What.

[He takes a step back from her, his glare piercing into the pilot. It hadn't been Poe's fault someone - namely him - hadn't locked the door behind him. Any thoughts of kissing or touching anyone had gone out the window.]

[ Rey's reaction is similar to Ben's only in that she's startled at the interruption, and then panic sets in. She hasn't yet told Poe about much of what happened while she'd been gone from the Resistance. They're just hadn't seemed like a right time. Still isn't, but there's no way for her to hide what he'd just walked in on. Jumping up from her desk quickly she pushes past Ben, putting herself in front of him like he doesn't stand almost an entire head taller than her. ]

We were just- There isn't--

[ She sighs, her eyes squinted slightly as she tries and fails to come up with an excuse for this. She looks fully embarrassed, a flush of color spread across her face and neck. ]

Did- did you need something, Poe?

[ He stops his movements while listening to them. Why run away completely? Poe slowly brings down his hand from his eyes. It had to be safe for now if anything he should consider himself lucky that he wasn't Force pushed against a wall or something was thrown at him. He looks from Kylo to Rey focusing more on the woman standing in front of Kylo Ren. ]

I think I know what I saw. And [ He pauses for a moment while curbing his anger a bit. It was confusing at most but they could always explain later. ] about that topic we can discuss at a later date. I'm sorry for barging in as I did. [ There's a small glance up wards at Kylo before looking at them both equally. ] This could have turned out to be way worse.

[ A small clearing of his throat. Right, the reason he came here for. ] I spoke privately about the blood tracking devices and asked a question. If we were to refuse orders. I believe you may know the answer Rey. Obi-Wan probably does too. I was wondering if you could tell me about the Rite of Annulment.

[ Might as well get right to business on the matter. ]

[I think I know what I saw. Poe's words instantly rankles him further but he keeps his his hands to his sides, the only sign that he's angry being a tightened jaw and a possessive hand on Rey's shoulder. Not that she could miss it through their Force connection. He wasn't hiding how angry he was.]

Careful. [He warns him, very clearly. If he had any more to say about them - in front of Rey specifically - he wouldn't hesitate to shut him up. When Poe chooses to address the reason for his visit, he backs down again, turning his attention to the mess he's made of her spare parts and unfinished projects and blueprints.

He stoops to pick up a sketch, turning it over in his hands before setting it on the desk and then moves on to some spare bolts and screws. At the mention of Obi-Wan his attention is back on Poe again, straightening to his feet.]

Rite of Annulment?

[Rey would know more about that, obviously. He'd never heard the phrase before.]

Ben.

[ Rey shoots a warning look over her shoulder before he busies himself with cleaning up the mess he made. She focuses her attention on Poe, not moving from her spot where she can intercept one or the other if needed. Her brow furrows for a moment at Poe's question, before her eyes widen and the color drains from her face. ]

It's- if the religious leaders here decide mages in a Circle are too dangerous they'll invoke the Rite of Annulment. They slaughter everyone. Templar abilities affect rifters the same way they affect mages, they could wipe us out if they decided we were too dangerous.

[ She leans back against the desk, horrified she hadn't thought of that before. ]

[ Poe points towards them with an open palm making that 'what' kind of gesture. ] Did you just say Ben? Or Ren?

[ This can give Ren a chance to state otherwise or be honest. He though went back to focusing on Rey so he didn't miss what she had to say. As she went on to explain he could feel that darkness of a pull. Poe presses his lips together while knowing that fear was creeping in.

He slowly glances downward while lowering his head and his hand goes to the back of his neck. ]

Okay, so, [ The gears in his head turn since he'll be thinking of a plan. Poe gives a small shrug not really knowing what to say at first. ] we can't start a mutiny or a riot. It'll only make us look dangerous. The only idea I have is we don't strike first. And I don't know anything about their politics here.

[He shoots her an equally tense glance, far from happy that she used his birth name in front of present company. She'd been good enough not to use it around people like Iorveth, people who weren't privy to what they did in their personal lives. Poe was a different matter entirely.

Instead of answering the pilot's question, he crosses his arms while staring him down. He wasn't going to clarify what Rey had said.]

If we wait too long, they'll find a way to corner us.

[Rite or no, he didn't want to wait this out. Then again, his preferred methods were always direct and quick without much room for thought in between.]

[ Rey presses her lips together, not clarifying the Ben or Ren issue, either. If Poe really wants to know, he'll have to ask again after they've discussed the possibility of the Chantry deciding they all need to be purged.

She bites the inside of her lip as the possibilities are laid out, and she glances back at Ben, before looking over at Poe. ]

They're researching the possibilities of creating Rifter phylacteries right now. Things are still... it's still early. We're going to need natives on our side to keep this from getting bad, they won't just listen to us. Enough people still think that we're demons that they don't trust us.

[ The subject matter wasn't really all that important right now on which one it was. Poe would come back to that inquiry later with anything else that wasn't business. He'll stay to the more business than personal. ]

If it's early, we may still have time, we may not be backed into a corner. [ He glances over at Kylo. ] Any time I felt cornered, I would find a way through it. If the natives is the best chance we got, we talk to them. Show them that we're not threatening.

[ He did toss a blaster down on the ground once to prove a point of being harmless. ] We can continue to talk about other plans. Ones in which won't get everyone killed.

There are people already doing that - trying to, at any rate. Well see if it works.

[He's still sour over Poe's invasion with all of this, which is why when he speaks of plans that won't get everyone killed he shoots back immediately - ]

Because you're so good at not getting your people killed.

[He knew it was a low blow, but he'd seen those numbers when he'd invaded their base on Crait, had heard about the dreadnought his people had taken out at great cost to their numbers.]

[ Oh that does it. Rey pushes off from the desk again, rounding to fully face Ben, her jaw tense and her brows drawn together. ]

Enough. We're all here together, and they're targeting all of us. If you can't at least try to be civil to Poe, you can leave.

[ Sorry, Ben. She knows that you have your issues but this one is entirely out-of-place and not needed right now. She turns back around without waiting for an answer or response from him, exhaling through her nose in frustration. ]

I'm sure that Thranduil--the one who made the announcement over the crystals to stay calm-- has something in mind. We'll talk to him once everything has settled. Obi-Wan, too.

[ That was a very low blow Kylo Ren. Poe didn't think he would but he squares his shoulders anyway. He knew that he messed up and it got worse after that. Crait was when he realized that running away or retreating wasn't losing. It was saving those that they had left. The one thing that Leia wanted him to see. Poe's eyebrows lift up as Rey went and he didn't have to add anything more. But, ]

You know, Kylo Ren, if you want to make things personal we can. [ He didn't really need to relive the verbal slapping to the face. ]

I certainly hope that he does. [ The situation is putting everyone on edge. ] What is going to be said to him exactly?

As amusing as it would be - maybe another time, pilot.

[He'd gotten his claws in enough. He didn't want to miss this discussion now that they were having it. Yes, what he'd said had absolutely been petty, but he didn't hate that he'd gotten an opportunity to drive a spike into his mother's pet protege.

He looks to Rey, his expression grim.]

When I spoke with Thranduil, he spoke of wanting to wait out our moment and of unifying the Rifters.

[Which he had made his stance clear on what little unity he was interested in when it came to Poe Dameron. All the same, they had a common goal of not being subjugated and not being purged by some Rite.]

[ The look Rey gives Poe when he baits Ben is almost as severe as the one she gave Ben, eyes flashing in frustration and nostrils flaring. She doesn't say anything further on it, since neither one of them seems to be escalating beyond casual ribbing. ]

Unifying the Rifters is important, and I think finding what natives would be willing to stand by us. The mages might not want to stick their necks out for us so soon after their own victory, but we might be able to find others.

[ Poe sees Rey's look and doesn't pursue any further. There was no point in making her upset further. After a moment, he gives a nod in her direction. ]

I agree about uniting everyone together. If we can find some natives, a handful, that might be enough, more would be the goal. [ He bites his bottom lip a bit before shaking his head. ] We could try speaking to some of them too. The odds may not look great, but it could be worth the chance.

There are other natives with shards too. They might join us if they aren't already mages. They won't like this any more than we do, if they decide to push the phylacteries.

[A beat.]

How many Rifters hold positions of power within the Inquisition?

[He knows it's not that important - these people could be in their pockets, after all - but it would be good to have a number and perhaps sink their presence further in somehow.]
